Love can wait, but study can't

June 11th is my big day. Nope, it isn't anything related to relationship but will be a day which determines whether my dream will be achievable or will it stay as a dream.

At this moment, love can only be shown in forms of support, a support that I desperately need and so far cannot find. Working full-time and studying isn't easy.

Goals are always easier to achieve when they are written out. And here I am listing out my short-term goals for the next 3 months.
  1. Minimum of 3 hours study everyday
  2. Practice, practice, practice
  3. 30 LR, 5 LG, and 2 RC practice every other day and review the next day
  4. Look beyond present; Remember that I'm doing this for my dream
  5. Sleep less
  6. Everything is possible with determination

St. Patty's Day Look!

Used a combination of green, shimmery white, and dark brown, along with gel eyeliners and fiber mascara.

What did you do on St. Patrick's day? St. Patrick's day was kind of a big thing back in college. My friend and I would often host a house party or go out to downtown Buffalo for some fun and drink.

This year now that I'm back to the city and has already begin to work as a full time employee, I did not let the fun stop. With NCAA starting on the same week as St. Patrick's day, along with Knicks coming back to their winning performance, it was a fun week full of beers, liquors, and food.

The fun didn't stop there. I was being adventurous with my makeup on Friday and I created a St. Patrick's day look using green (picture seems blue, but in reality it's actually light green). The look was fun and it was perfect for the warm and springy weather.

Hazy Spring Sunshine

Spring's color!

Used a combination of purple, pink, sky blue, dark brown, and shimmery white on this look, along with gel eyeliners and fiber mascara.

This look is perfect for Spring! I used a combination of a few spring colors and added dark brown on my creases to naturalize my look and to prevent my eyes from looking puffy by the purple and pink that I was using. I then paired it up with some pink lip sticks and finished up with a very natural nude pink blush, not wanting to have too much dramatic colors on my face.

Once in a lifetime love

How many kinds of love exist out there?

According to my favorite book "The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks, there is love that never die and only happens once in a lifetime. In the book, Noah and Allie was always meant to be. Although they separated for 14 years after a summer full of love, they found their ways back to each other. I first read the book when I was 18 years old, an age that I was full of love, hope, passion, and curiosity.

6 years later since I have read the book, I picked up my longtime favorite book recently again and started to read it again. The story was still beautiful but I also realized that the novel only focused on the beautiful part, or had I being only 18 years old only focused on the beautiful part at the time? I saw something different this time. After Allie broke up with Lon 3 weeks before their wedding day, I wonder how Lon's life had became. The love of his life, the one girl that he was going to marry in 3 weeks, left for someone who had not been in her life for 14 years. For Lon, his heart probably broke into unrecognizable pieces. I wonder if Lon was able to love again after Allie.

According to me, love existed but probably won't again in the future. I am not sure if love only happens once in a lifetime, but I am unable to even be happy. It has been nearly 6 months and I am still unable to move on. I still have no courage to throw out everything and delete all the pictures. I question myself every morning. I ask myself a reason for not letting me move on, I ask myself a purpose to stay this unhappy. I am often able to find myself answers to those questions, but unfortunately time never waits and life just goes on, despite one being happy or unhappy.

Every time I try to run back to where I thought I belong, I always find myself in tears, in fear, in pain, and alone.

Or, I simply just cry too much.

MyGlam March bag Opening and Review

It's middle of March and that means I should be expecting my glam bag anytime soon. When I came home on a Saturday night after an episode of crying in the afternoon, I came home to my March's glam bag package on the table in my living room. I did not wait an extra second before opening my March surprise.

This month is about repairing and restoring our winter-torn skin and hair and getting ready for a beautiful spring.

Here is a list of products/samples in the bag:
  • Pur-lisse Pur-Protect SPF 30 Essential Daily Moisturizer
  • Murad Eye Lift Perfector
  • DermStore $25 off $50 coupon
  • Pur-lisse Pur-Lip Comfort Daily Lip Nourisher
  • Keracolor Color Enhancing Leave-In Treatment
  • Pink Crease Brush & Case
Overview:
  • This month's bag is fine. Not much better than last month's bag but also not much worse. Many of the samples are very small and the brand names are fairly new to me. However, I do like the cute little bag that surprises me every month and I really needed the Lip Nourisher since my lips have become so dry after winter.
  • The pink crease brush and case are also very nice. I especially like the brush case because I have plenty of 'homeless' brushes sitting around my desk. However, the brush seems to smell very weird and I will see if I would really want to use it or not after a wash.
Disappointments:
  • The first disappointment would be that this month included no makeup products. I was expecting a spring-color eyeshadow, or maybe a pink lipsticks, or maybe even a cute color nail polish. But that didn't happen this month.
  • The second disappointment would be that the sample sizes are very small and it is very difficult to really test out if a product is nice or not with such a small amount to sample.
By the way, I was chosen as one of the two winners for MyGlam's Facebook page February bag photo contest. This is the photo that I submitted,

Let's hope Spring will bring hope and happiness once again in my life. Looking forward to April's MyGlam bag!

Homemade strawberry mask

Many may not know, but this is my first winter in New York City since 5, 6 years ago. I spend 5 years in Buffalo through its crazy winter weather, coming back to New York City and spending a whole winter here is definitely something... not new, but very different.

Speaking of winter, despite the cold and the snow, the dryness on skin is probably another reason why I don't enjoy winter as much as I should. I have very dry and sensitive skin, and masks are often very expensive and they don't necessary always work well. After a dry winter with the heater always on, my skin is worse than it has ever been... well, that is until I found this lovely homemade strawberry-honey mask recipe.

Strawberry is a great source of salicylic acid, a key ingredient in many skin-care products for the treatment of acne, psoriasis, calluses, corns, keratosis pilaris, and warts. It helps to open clogged pores and neutralizing bacteria within, while preventing pores to clog again and allowing new cell growth on skin.

Basic Strawberry-Honey mask
  • 1 tsp of honey
  • 2 tsp of lukewarm water
  • a few crushed strawberries
  • 1 tsp of Extra Virgin Organic Olive Oil for Dry skin

Simply combine ingredients and make a strawberry paste and apply on face. Leave the paste on for about 15 to 20 minutes and rinse with your usual facial cleaning products and water.

Overview:

  • I tried this a few times already and my skin becomes very soft after this simple homemade mask. Strawberries aren't expensive and often you don't need a lot to make a mask paste. I usually apply the left-over on my hands and my hands would become very soft afterward, a hand that is soft and nice for my significant other to hold on to! <3

For a preventive anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory treatment, repeat daily for 1-2 weeks and continue with 1 to 3 times a week for general skin maintenance.

Rapunzel Rapunzel Clip-in Hair Extensions-Received!

So I received my clip-in hair extensions a while ago and I didn't wait a second before I start clipping them in my hair.

Overview after opening:

  • I ordered Rapunzel Rapunzel's Euro Clip-in hair extension in the color of Dark Auburn. The clip-in hair extensions are not as thick as I thought they would be but the hair quality is very nice, very soft and smooth. Unfortunately the color does not really match my own hair color so there I decided to dye the extensions to my hair color.

Try-on before dyeing:
As you can see, because of the mismatch of the two hair colors, the extensions didn't blend in as well as they should but it should be an easy fix. The only problem now is that my hair is so naturally thin, it gets a little tricky to hide all the clips under my natural hair.

Overview After Dyeing:
  • So I used the smallest piece of hair extension to try on some hair dyeing product that I often use on my own hair. I am surprised that even after two try the color does not seem to change a bit close to my own color. Even worse, instead of the staying straight, the hair extensions actually become wavy/curly after one gentle wash with warm water and conditioner. And to my surprise, some of the hair even fell off from the clip.

I guess I have paid $60 bucks to learn that I should really adore my short hair. I will continue to experiment these hair extensions but I doubt I will ever wear them until I figure out how to make the color and straightness match my own hair.
